Sweden’s total defense is undergoing significant transformation due to geopolitical unrest, new alliances, threats, and challenges like the climate crisis. The need for change exceeds the capabilities of our organizations. In response, we are launching FOFOT, combining a research school for collaborative PhD candidates with a transformation program to create a unique forum for cooperation.

FOFOT is led by a consortium of six academic partners (GU, Lund, Försvarshögskolan, RISE, Mälardalen, Luleå) with prior success in collaboration between academia and society. By integrating research into each organization through the PhD program, we generate actionable knowledge that can be applied directly in transformation through leadership development.

Offerings

Organizations joining FOFOT gain access to:

  • Leading expertise in transformation from Sweden’s top research environments
  • Proven methodologies and forums for transformation
  • Competence development for management and collaborative PhD candidates
  • Strengthened ability to drive organizational transformation based on evidence

Commitments for Participating Organizations:

  • Allocate at least 50% of the collaborative PhD candidate’s time to relevant research for the organization.
  • Pay an annual membership fee of 500,000 SEK for transformation support and training during the program’s first three years.
